Title: Mayme's Kolaches

Yield: 1 Batch

2cScalded milk
1 Cake of yeast
2tbSugar
  Flour
1 Egg
  Sugar
4tbMelted lard
  Salt
  Prune Filling
1cPrunes
1/2cOrange juice
1tbFlour
1/2cSugar
1/8tsSalt
1/2cNuts, chopped
  Cinnamon
  Vanilla
  OR
  Apricot filling:
1lbApricots, dried
1/2cOrange juice
1/2cWater
1cSugar
2tbFlour
1/8tsSalt
1tsOrange rind

2 C. scalded milk cooled to luke warm; add 1 cake of yeast and 2 TB sugar out of 1/2 cup; add flour to make a soft sponge; let rise 1 hour. Add 1 beaten egg, rest of sugar, 4 TB melted lard and salt. make a very soft dough; let raise 1 1/2 hrs. Makes 30. You can add cinnamon and vanilla to prune filing.

Prune Filling cook: 1 C Prunes Add: 1/2 C orange juice Mix: 1 TB flour with 1/2 C sugar and 1/8 TS salt Cook until thick. Add: 1/2 C nuts, chopped some cinnamon some vanilla

Apricot filling: Cook: 1 lb apricots, dried Add: 1/2 C orange juice 1/2 C water Mix: 1 C sugar 2 TB flour 1/8 TS salt 1 TS orange rind Cook until thick.
